New girl about town, Wendy Wine-Taster was spotted kicking up her heels at the Kilcoy Show over the weekend. Wendy was there on behalf of the Kilcoy Wood, Wine & Art Festival committee and was an entrant in the Scarecrow Competition.
Friday, the first day of the Show had promising weather & Wendy handed out Festival flyers in the Wine & Cheese Court, while enjoying tastings of both wine and cheese. With the rain on Saturday she joined the rest of the Scarecrow Clan in the undercover area to enjoy the entertainment and hear the result of the Scarecrow judging.
It was during this time that Wendy’s life was put in peril. The close shave occurred during the whip cracking demonstration when her hat was removed from her head by an errant lash of the whip!
Wendy, trooper that she is, stood her ground and was later seen congratulating distant cousin Sarah from Springdell Fruit Wines, who was the Scarecrow winner.
Wendy plans to visit local wineries over the coming months to promote the Kilcoy Wood, Wine & Art Festival which is on the 11th & 12th September, culminating with springtime & bud-burst in the local vineyards.
Watch out for Wendy out and about and currently at Hunting Lodge Estate Winery, Mt Kilcoy. Wendy says check out the Festival website at www.woodwineart.com.au.
The annual Kilcoy Wood, Wine & Art Festival is a growing event & is on again in September 2010 on Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th.
The Festival returns funding to local charities, clubs & organisations such as the RSL, Rural Volunteer Fire Brigades, SES, Lions Club, school’s Chaplaincy program, Kilcoy Hospital Auxillary & many other worthy causes.
There’s lots to see & do.Compete in the SE Qld Wine Tossing Championship to win a unique trophy. Get a team together for the Disc Bowls Competition, no experience necessary & more trophies to win.
Saturday night sit around the campfire, under the stars, enjoy a campoven stew & be entertained by Kilcoy Unplugged, with their wonderful blend of bush poetry, music & laughter.
Sunday morning it’s up early for the Poet’s Breakfast and it’s worth it for a hearty laugh & a hearty meal.
See you there in September.
