Run Away To The Circus
Or at least find out if you have the skills for the circus life. The Kilcoy Wood, Wine & Art Festivalcommittee is pleased to announce that the BigStar Circus is coming to this year’s Festival. With funding made available by the Regional Arts Development Fund and the Somerset Regional Council free circus workshops will be available over the 2 days of the Festival on Sat 11th & Sun 12thof September. Learn how to juggle, use devil sticks, spin plates & twirl poi. Everything needed is supplied. The Come & Play workshops run for 30 minutes each with 4 workshops planned for Saturday morning & another 4 on Saturday afternoon. So plenty of opportunity to test your skills.
And for the really keen, learn how to make & decorate your own equipment in the Make & Learnworkshop. Take your new toys home to dazzle friends & family with your new found skills.
Now, for really brave, attend the Aerial Bungy Workshop. See the Aerial Show – Circus Spectacular first , just before lunch on Saturday and a little later on Sunday ,then see how’s its done. You then get to chance to learn such amazing tricks as Static Trapeze, Lyra(aerial ring), Tissu ( aerial silks) and Bungy. Great fun, amazing tricks, all learnt in complete safety. There is a 50kg to 90kg weight limit depending on the activity. The workshops are aimed mainly at the younger generation, but the young at heart are welcome also.
Bookings for all the workshops will be taken on the weekend at the Festival or just walk in if there is a vacancy. This is an exciting opportunity to find out if you should run away and join the circus. Come along & have lots of FUN. The annual Kilcoy Wood, Wine & Art Festival is a growing event & is on again in September 2010 on Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th.
The Festival returns funding to local charities, clubs & organisations such as the RSL, Rural Volunteer Fire Brigades, SES, Lions Club, school’s Chaplaincy program, Kilcoy Hospital Auxillary & many other worthy causes.
There’s lots to see & do.Compete in the SE Qld Wine Tossing Championship to win a unique trophy. Get a team together for the Disc Bowls Competition, no experience necessary & more trophies to win.
Saturday night sit around the campfire, under the stars, enjoy a campoven stew & be entertained by Kilcoy Unplugged, with their wonderful blend of bush poetry, music & laughter.
Sunday morning it’s up early for the Poet’s Breakfast and it’s worth it for a hearty laugh & a hearty meal.
